I first qualified as a mortgage adviser back in 2003, at the age of 21. Since then, I've spent over two decades working across every corner of the mortgage industry — as an independent broker, within estate agents throughout Cheshire and Staffordshire, and even directly for one of the UK's largest lenders.
That breadth of experience taught me how the industry works from every angle. I've seen the good, the not-so-good, and everything in between. Most importantly, I've learned what really matters to people going through the mortgage process — and it's not being treated as just another application.
A Different Perspective
During my career, I took a break from mortgages to study for a degree in counselling skills. It might seem like an unusual detour, but it's given me something invaluable: the ability to truly listen, to understand the anxiety that house buying can cause, and to support clients through what can feel like an overwhelming process.
Active listening. Understanding that finance and house buying can cause real stress and anxiety. Recognising that the process itself — and all the jargon — doesn't help. Stepping away from the industry for a while allowed me to view it from the outside in, and when I came back, I was determined to do things differently.

Coming Home to Alsager
I was born in Alsager. I went to Highfields Primary School, then Alsager School and sixth form. I've watched this place grow from what we used to call "the village" into the thriving town it is today. I've seen families move here from Crewe, Sandbach, and beyond, drawn by the community spirit that makes Alsager special.
When the opportunity came to start Lynton Mortgages, it meant I could finally bring two decades of experience home. Being self-employed means my focus is entirely on my clients — supporting them through the process, at their pace, in a way that works for them.
Why "Lynton"?
Choosing a name was harder than I expected. In the end, I settled on Lynton — a name Alsager residents might recognise from Lynton Place, just off Sandbach Road. While I have no direct connection to that street, it's synonymous with Alsager. It felt right to choose something rooted in the town I call home.
Supporting Everyone
One thing I'm particularly keen on is making sure my service works for everyone — including those who are neurodiverse. The mortgage process involves a lot of information, paperwork, and waiting. I've designed my systems and communication style to be as clear and supportive as possible, breaking things down into manageable steps rather than overwhelming people with everything at once.
You'll Probably See Me Around
When I'm not helping people with mortgages, you'll likely find me at The Lodge enjoying a real ale at the weekend, or down at the Hub watching my son Ashton and his AFC Alsager team play football. That's the thing about being a local adviser — I'm part of this community, not just working in it.
